Copper Moon Coffee is a commercial coffee roastery in Lafayette, Indiana. We source, roast, package, and ship coffee for customers all over the country. Our customers include those in wholesale, retail, and online markets. We also brew and serve our out-of-this-world coffee at several world-class cafés in Lafayette and West Lafayette.



The Coffee Roaster manages, plans, and executes tasks as a team or as an individual to fulfill daily coffee roasting needs, ensuring consistency and accuracy of the product. The Roaster also conducts routine cleaning of equipment, maintenance and calibration of roaster, and manages shipping and receiving of products as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Read work orders to determine quantities and type of coffee to be roasted
  • Weigh product and prepare for roasting
  • Maintain the roasting and grinding equipment and areas
  • Perform daily maintenance to roaster including burn-outs and cleaning
  • Record production data regarding process and status of work and product details
  • Create and maintain activity logs as required
  • Fulfill coffee roasting production requirements
  • Maintain continuity of various roasting profiles
  • Grow production totals
  • Plan and forecast upcoming orders and roast requirements
  • Participate in production process improvement efforts
  • Other tasks related to the roasting and grinding of coffee

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent creative and writing skills
  • Comprehension of written/verbal instructions
  • High attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of tracking inventory

Education and Experience

  • 2-3 years working in a production environment, preferably food manufacturing
  • Forklift operation experience
  • One to three years of related experience preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 150 pounds
  • Must be able to reach in all directions
