Copper Moon Coffee is a commercial coffee roastery in Lafayette, Indiana. We source, roast, package, and ship coffee for customers all over the country. Our customers include those in wholesale, retail, and online markets. We also brew and serve our out-of-this-world coffee at several world-class cafés in Lafayette and West Lafayette.

The Quality Control Technician position functions as essential support for the needs of Copper Moon Coffee. This position will work closely with our Quality Department to assume responsibility for performance monitoring and Quality Control throughout our production facility. This role requires the ability to communicate with employees at all levels in the organization. The Quality Technician will be responsible for training all employees on appropriate quality processes and expectations to detect quality issues on the production line(s).

Position Responsibilities

  • Utilize tools and equipment to maintain and improve product quality for bagged and single cup items
  • Evaluate data and write reports to validate and show deviations from existing standards
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality
  • Assist in the required monitoring of the quality management system on specific assigned shift
  • Monitor key quality components including but not limited to; nitrogen levels, packaging integrity, and single cup brewer performance.
  • Work with production operators to improve quality standards
  • Responsible for gaining an innate understanding of Copper Moon Coffee’s production flow and processes
  • Analyze brewing efficiency of any returned/damaged/defective product to find a solution for current or future issues
  • Maintain lab environment including general housekeeping and cleaning equipment
  • Act as a champion of quality, driving awareness to assigned shift and helping operators better understand quality and its importance

Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to do intermediate arithmetic
  • Strong communication skills are a must
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently
  • Working knowledge of GMP preferred

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s Degree preferred; equivalent experience considered

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift 5 pounds
  • Ability to carry 5 pounds
  • Tolerate 95-100-degree temperature for short periods of time
